you see memories, silk window hanging
PLEASE NOTE THE 1ST IMAGE IS THE ONE THAT WILL BE PRINTED ON THESE SILKS. THEY ARE PREORDER AND I DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL VERSION OF THIS PARTICULAR PRINT IN HAND.
Each batch of window hangings is a limited run of 11 prints and once they are gone, they are gone.
The example print is 10”×10”, so is a good deal smaller than the prints for sale (for those curious about size reference.)
A fragment from the non-existent book that is the story of this silk:
“They watched her from above. The invisible forces that are always there, but lately they were exerting more focus on her than usual. They have had a close eye on her not only because she was heartbroken, but because she was broken open, and this openness was rearranging things in their invisible world. At this very moment she was deranged by her openness, howling at the grey sky that hung low above her, soaking her pajamas slick to her skin. The first of the summer’s storms. There were so many sounds all at once. The clanging of the brass wind chime she had bought in her honor, the pulse of the lake’s tides, the relentless winds, the lashing of the willow’s long hair against the rose bushes, and all of the ancient noises that escaped her. She dug her palms in the garden and covered them in wet soil. Buried her nose in the towering rose bush above her, the one that had become her favorite not for its beauty but for its scent. She stuck her face into the bush, some skin tore on the torn. Sometimes if you call to something in just the right way, it will change shape. And for a moment she was in her mother’s arms again. More particles rearranged.”
This silk is offered on two different sizes + is intended to be hung in a doorway or window or any space that promotes movement. Perhaps move it around your house from window to doorway, enjoying the image itself and then how it invites in its background to take part in the narrative. For those who don’t mind a little dirt, take it on a walk to see how the image changes against the sky or wrapped around a flower.
The silks are incredibly delicate due to the nature of their sheerness, so please be gentle with them in order to enjoy them for a long, long time. All silks feature raw edges and are printed onto 5mm Habotai silk. Handmade locally in Los Angeles.
